TASTING AT LORDS CRICKET GROUND
VINIPORTUGAL
Wines of Portugal will be holding its annual tasting at Lords Cricket Ground in London on April 9, the largest event of its kind in the UK. More than 100 Portuguese winemakers will be exhibiting this year, with the Douro being particularly well represented with some 37 producers heading for London including Sandra Tavares da Silva, while 27 wine makers from Alentejo including Paulo Laureano and João Portugal Ramos will be exhibiting.
Around 18 winemakers will be in attendance from both the Dão/Barirrada/Beira interior and Estremadura/Ribatejo including Richard Mayson, Luis Pato and Filipo Pato while 14 producers from Vinho Verde/Minho will be showing off their latest vintages including Anselmo Mendes. There will also be a number of Terras Do Sado and Algarve producers making the trip to Lords.
Highlights of the event will include talks on "50 Great Portuguese Wines" and "The Wine and Food Lover's Guide to Portugal" by wine writers Simon Woods and Charles Metcalfe.
New releases available for tasting include Quinta da Aveleda and Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Fonte do Nico from Adega Cooperativa de Pegões, Terras do Sado, Point West Touriga Nacional, A Wine to Dance from Bossa by Filipa Pato, Anta da Serra red and white from the Alentejo, and white Port Alves de Sousa from the Douro.
