Tagus Creek Alentejano Syrah-Trincadeira 2004 - 9 June 2006
Tagus Creek is growing in popularity and is Portugal's first new major brand with widespread distribution. The Tagus is Portugal's best known and largest river and the capital of Lisbon is situated on its banks near the Atlantic. Further inland it shares its setting with the Alentejano wine region with its numerous river creeks from which men still fish for a living.
Like Red Leg from the same producer, this wine awoke on the second day and transformed from a sleepy red to a gentle giant with an enticing bouquet with hints of vanilla and violets, before leading to a smooth, rich ripe mouthful of plums and damsons.
Food guide: Barbecued meats, spicy sausages, meat balls, kebabs, lamb, kid, beef and many fully flavoured cheeses.

So young, fresh, and vibrant. Really needs three years in bottle to show anything like its true potential. Obviously some whole-bunch fermentation going on here. Delicious. Can't believe the quality for the price!
